Draft — not legally reviewed. These terms are a public working draft maintained by the platform's organizers. They have not been reviewed by qualified legal counsel and must not be relied on as a binding contract until that review has happened. Sections that affect liability, jurisdiction, and dispute resolution will change before launch.

Notice

Terms

Plain-language terms. Not a substitute for legal advice. Living document — changes go through the platform's own pending-changes process with a public delay window.

What GROUNDWORK is

Governance and legibility infrastructure for collective institutions. A coordination layer. A public record. Nothing more.

What GROUNDWORK is not

  • A custodian of funds.
  • An investment broker.
  • A guarantor of any initiative's outcome or competence.
  • A political endorsement.
  • A surveillance identity system.

The public-record contract

By using GROUNDWORK to organize, review, govern, or pledge, you accept that decisions you make in those institutional roles are permanently attributed to your account on the public record. This is not optional — it is the entire mechanism of the platform.

Acceptable use

No fraud, no impersonation, no fabricated governance claims, no weaponized reporting, no coordinated manipulation. Violations are decided in public via the manipulation reports system.

No warranty

The platform is provided as-is, in public draft. Verification reduces fraud risk but does not eliminate it. You are responsible for your own due diligence before pledging.

Identity documents

If you upload a government ID or selfie for identity verification, the file is stored in a private, restricted bucket. Only you and reviewers with verification level 3 or higher can read it. Documents are automatically deleted 30 days after a reviewer decision (approval, denial, or withdrawal). We do not run automated facial recognition or biometric matching. We are not a regulated KYC provider — see Privacy for full details.

No fundraising yet

The platform does not currently process payments. Pledges are non-binding signals of solidarity and never move money. When real fundraising is enabled, we will add a regulated payment partner and update these terms before any campaign can collect funds.
